It may come as no surprise for the residents of the Iconic Pacific Northwest City of Portland, Oregon, that the city is ranked as the second most LGBTQ friendly City in the U.S.. Portland is known for its progressive political stances and support for the LGBTQ community. It also ranked as the second largest LGBT population in the U.S. with 5.4% of people polled identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. In addition to these population numbers, Portland was also ranked the second most friendly LGBT community in a study conducted by the website, Nerd Wallet, that took into consideration LGBT population, hate crime frequency, Equality index ranking, and LGBT leadership in several U.S. cities.

Portland, also known as the City of Roses, is known for its surrounding beauty of tropical deciduous forests and the high rising peaks of the Cascade Mountain Range, that can be seen even from downtown. If you're looking to relocate to the City of Roses, the average rent for a 765 square foot apartment is around $1,499, as of February 2020, according to RentCafe. There seems to be about a 1% increase in rent compared to the previous year. Although Portland's median rental price is above the national average it is still less than that of neighboring west coast cities like Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
